Hi,
Not sure if i'm in the right place, i have been working on my Tarot deck fo a few months but some of my images were part of another Artist that reproduces pattern stencils, mainly for me to add abit of detail around my cards.
So what i wanted to know i'm i still able to use these stencils freely, ive noticed a policy disclaimer on their packaging about getting permission for some use, so i sent them an email explaining what i'm using their stencils for and then i may look for a publisher when my work is finished, but just had a email saying they need more details about my project?

You will have to send them the details - is all. Copyright is a minefield. If it says you have to get permission - then you do. That applies also to images you find on line. Quite a few people assume that if it is on line it's OK. Not so.
Sarah Ovenall has a very good site applying to collage artists - and I guess using these stencils kind of falls under that.

Some good info there. I've made a couple of decks of my own, but could never publish them since they're total violations of copyright - I love them though, so I often use them for my own personal readings.

Well very interesting site, actually my stencils are from Dover and they state they will let anyone use up to 10 stencils for one project. Ive only used about 6 of their stencil patterns so maybe i'm okay, but i shall still wait to see what they say.
I had trouble sending my email to the site owner Sarah

Mike, you'll be fine with 6 of Dover's images.

hi goldenweb
I'm still awaiting Dover's email back, can i just see if i understand this correctly. I'm allowed to use about 10 stencils from Dover so does this mean i can pick up to 10 stencil patterns and use them through out my 78 images.
