Here's a new deck, visible at

http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=6942266
and

http://www.flickr.com/photos/lilly1975/sets/72157603549031009/

Done quickly, but, she says, with knowledge of Tarot of 14 years.

She can draw (!) and has a sense of composition (!).  Check out the backs, too.

thanks for the heads up on this one Deb ;)......what a gem!!

I just purchased this edition:

"Description
This is my new design for the major arcana tarot deck.

There are the 22 cards of the Major arcana, all drawn by myself using mostly Ned's photography for reference. the style is sort of gritty Art Nouveau.

They are in black and white and printed on a thick card stock in cream. This specific deck is hand painted with red and orange watercolor, it's one of a kind and there isn't going to be another one just like it.

The back side is a nice handmade paper from Thailand in deep black with leafs and flowers in copper.

Also included a 5 pages short instruction on the meaning of each card and a basic 5 cards spread.

The cards comes in a hand made black bag with a lily stamped on.

The basic 22 major arcana cards are enough to read fortune, meditate and use for divination and search of advice and guidance through life. I've been researching tarot card for the past 14 years or so, and those are usable cards.

Notice - some of the cards contain nudity (mostly breasts), so probably not the best idea to get those for children or people who are offended by such things.

If you want to see all the images of the card, check out my flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lilly1975/sets/72157603549031009/
Sold on Dec 28, 2007"

hey there Ly.......this particular deck is hand tinted.....also notice the different backs

it seems that each deck is individualized with distinguishing characteristics in some way.

the description reads:

"This specific deck is hand painted with red and orange watercolor, it's one of a kind and there isn't going to be another one just like it."

I have no idea if they're coated or not.....I haven't received them yet and I didn't ask her, but I would assume (maybe incorrectly) that they are not laminated in any way (I hope they aren't)......they don't look like they've been laminated

I'll find out soon enough

which makes them all the more precious for a collection. in any case, do share if they've been varnished on not once you receive the cards. :)

Yes I just bought a copy. Thanks for pointing this one out to us all. Ordering it sent me on a long internet surfing session looking for other material on Etsy and Flickr. There are a number of really interesting sets of tarot designs which people have created and placed onto these systems. These are almost impossible to find as one has to have the willpower to search through hundreds of pages of finds which have little to do with tarot.

This appears to be work of some originality and I look forward to having the deck in my collection.

I was looking through her other projects--some neat things.

There is an entire sub-world of art that is deemed "non-professional" that is actually better than conventional published stuff.

But you have to wade through alot of crap to get past the real amateurs and find these gems.

Sites like Etsy give people a presence that they may not get on their own domain. Sad but true.

very true! seen lots of artists there and in da who, though having no formal training, dish out fresh and very novel ideas.

i bet one of these days, someone'll be posting a link to a polymer clay tarot etsy page. :D

Heeheehee it was another collector here who first found them and posted on a different website.

By the way--when responding to a quote in this forum, it's easy to get "stuck in the box" with the cursor.  The solution seems to be to hit "end" on your keyboard--takes the cursor outside the "quote box."

Happy holidays, all....

Mine was there ... with 'Reserved for mythos51' ... and someone ignored that and bought it.  Aya was trying to cancel the deal but said that it was difficult, so she offered to make me another.  Hopefully we can synchronise times so that I can buy it before someone in a different time zone nabs it first.:?

Yep ... nice wasn't it:).  I'd love gold though.  Maybe .....:D ... but I will be very happy with any colour, or none.  I do like black and white decks.

the beauty of her system makes each printing unique and wonderful, it places each one on equal footing without getting bogged down in that system of numercial cataloguing.
this just seems much more natural and elegant

I think it's a wonderful idea to be hand-coloured and have different paper backs. I like the colouring on the one Adam bought best.

Perhaps she'll make more since there seems to be a demand?

I sent her a message through etsy. She's got a waiting list (and seems to be raising the price in $5 increments LOL).  :P

I bet she's surprised to find there's a market...to contact her you set up an account w/ etsy (takes five seconds) and then e-mail her through their system.

Can't say I blame her if they are hand-coloured.

I don't have any money now, but I'm glad some serious collectors have paid attention to her work. That must be a nice feeling.

I'm sorry Mythos that must have been me !!! :?.I didn't read what it said as I had made up my mind to buy befor I got to the site.I remember seeing Mythos but it didn't click.I Thought it meant that you were the person who bought the deck previosly to this one being offered.Sort of the sites way of showing who the person was who bought the last item.Odd now that I think about it but then I live in Los Angeles where nothing is out of the ordinary. It wasn't until I read the comments here on the thread that I went back and reread what it actualy had said.I had never seen nor heard of Etsy befor until I followed the link from here.I'm used to E-bay where you can't leave messages like "Please don't bid on this item,I really want it" LOL I'm gladd she going to be making you a deck otherwise I would have sent you this one. This being a forum of eccentric collectors with compulsive behaviors it's not suprising this happened.I do feel sorta bad reminding me of when I got caught looking up the teachers dress.Back in the day the mini skirt was in and I've been haunted with compulsive behavior ever since..........

I just ordered one--red and orange, with a red and cream back that reminds me of papers common in Japan.

Also am sending the artist a link to here, so she can say hello if she likes :D

PS:  The images are my flavor of eroticism (I'm no fan of extreme closeups  ).  I'm planning to store it with Thea's black & white lesbian-feminist deck--I'll let you know if anything interesting happens.

Thea's:  http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/theas/index.shtml

I personally would like more smileys.

I contacted the seller too and asked for a Black&White version. Since I have a whole collection of just Black&White decks. But seeing these nice watercoloured images, makes me think I want to have one with colours too. I still don't know how much they cost though... aaarrghh.. I hate making choices!

You guys are very lucky!!! I love these different papers she uses for the backs. As someone who does collage, origami, and creates patterns and stuff for jewellery items (I've got some luscious new ones to use with paintings in bead embroidery), I think this lady is so creative.

She even does bookbinding as I do. Another kindred spirit in art--very William Blake-ish to do ink work and hand colour it. Lovely work.

it looks to me like the inner linings for the bags are also coordinated with the decks color scheme to complement the overall theme.....also the band of fabric to keep the flap in place.
if you think about it, there are a number of different components being brought together here to create each deck (and a lot of sewing)  right down to the fabric label for the Black Lilly logo.

All is forgiven ... mine is bought and paid for.  The paying for was not without it's dramas given that I had no money.  Thank the goddesses of all wonderful mother's because when I zapped her with my begging for money she just laughed ... and lent me the $'s.  A quick trip to the bank, then back here and payment.

It is going to be 41C (106F) today ... already stifling ... and I have to go back out in it ... ah well, if I die of heat stroke, at least it will be with the knowledge that the Black Lilly is on it's way and will be appreciated by my Dad.:dude:

Well, there was no way I could resist this one. And having stayed up too late tonight (having gotten sucked into a book), I checked email one last time and found my deck ready.

Love the colors and the card back.

Blue Toy, I believe she is using printed papers (from Italy etc.) and pasting them on the backs.

Yahooo.. I am awaiting my copies of the Black Lilly Tarot now as well. And yes, copies. I succumbed to the temptation of getting a black&white and a coloured version after all. They were just up on Etsy. The coloured one is also red/orange. I really loved that one Debra got, so I asked if I could have those colours. Now I have to wait patiently for them to arrive... lol :D

Oh, I just noticed, looking at that link of all the decks sold, that even though my copy is also with red and orange, the backs are different. And actually, I am noticing some differences in the cards too. That is really nice, so even though you have a deck with the same colours, you still have a unique copy!

I was thinking last night how much I would love to have a copy in varying shades of green..........and what did I see on their Etsy page when I woke up this morning

that's way too freaky

(and of course I bought it )

She's doing minors for the Black Lilly, suit by suit, starting with the cups. Looks like she has made and sold only one set so far:

Wait until you see the purple and magenta cups she just put up.

Interestingly, it's all based on photographs of the same model. Thus the Knight and Page are the same girl as the Princess and Queen.  Although there are males in the Majors, I guess she's going for all-female minors, at least so far. Hm.

As before, she raises the price in $5 increments.

Interestingly, it's all based on photographs of the same model. Thus the Knight and Page are the same girl as the Princess and Queen.  Although there are males in the Majors, I guess she's going for all-female minors, at least so far. Hm.

As before, she raises the price in $5 increments.

Oh, they are all lovely again. I didn't see purple/magenta cups, but the majors. Very lovely. Now.. of course I will want the cups. But the big question is... do I want them in the same colouring as the majors or maybe different colouring... aarrgg.. decisions again!

Thanks Debra, for the heads-up. I most definately will be watching again (and buying of course :bl)

OK it was me. :f

BUT - I am having MAJOR problems paying.... The paypal link comes up with a card  deleted TWO YEARS AGO. And it won't let me change it. :?

My NORMAL paypal area is correct so it has to be somethjng with etsy. I have e-mailed them - both the artist and etsy and haven't heard back. Later I shall have to try and change the payment method.... :(
