Hi forum friends,
I've been working on my deck creation for some time now, and it is finished now! And, I made a website too :-) to show them. In the past I've been to shy to show any, but I'm ready now! I've secretly been longing to let them out of the studio for so long.
So far I've only posted 5 of the trumps, and 3 of each suit. Here is what is posted currently:
The Fool, The Hierophant, Death, The Star, The Sun
Queen of Wands, 5 and 6 of wands
Ace of Cups, 6 of Cups, Knight of Cups
Four of Swords, Nine of Swords, Princess of Swords
Two of Disks, Nine of Disks, Queen of Disks
I'll post more cards daily. I still need to do the write ups on the rest, but they are all done!!! Whew!
It is a Thoth based, and thus Golden Dawn based deck. I'm seeking a publisher, and considering self-publishing limited editions too. It is also going to have a full book, as soon as I finish all the writing, which is almost there.
Check it out at http://www.rosettatarot.com
I'll let you know as more cards get put up.
Thanks for looking!

This looks great! Well done indeed, and your website is very elegant too.
I guess you just didn't have time to join in on the TCF collaborative deck project. Maybe next time...

I've been so immersed in this project that the TCF project completely escaped me! Otherwise I would have loved to.
Last night I posted six more cards:
The Priestess
The Universe
The 3 of Wands
The 4 of Cups
The 10 of Swords
Prince of Disks
Hope you like them! Thank you for looking!

I just saw in the TCF project thread that some cards have become available, since someone withdrew. Maybe you can still take part. Just check it out.
So far as I can see from the cards you posted, your deck is gorgeous! I like!

Thanks truelighth!
I did check it out, but I'm not sure I could do enough by the deadline which is june 30th, right? I'm still trying to finish writing the book that goes with the deck, and get more cards ready to upload to the site, and write content, and teaching myself how to even build a site, which I know nothing about and have had to painfully learn every step. Even working with graphics programs I know nothing about and have had to teach myself to do the simplest things. I'm also talking to various printers this week, doing research to see if I can even afford to print them, and how. It is so hard.
I need a team of elves! Or a fairy godmother. Or The Godfather lol
Plus I have a day job and a half-acre garden to keep alive...
If only things were not so busy I'd be honored to contribute. I will certainly try to be here for next years collaborative effort. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I posted this over at AT but thought I'd share it here too. (Not sure how much overlap there is between the two sites, but I'm guessing there is some, so you may see it there)
It is an excerpt from the Book of Seshet, the companion book to the deck. This part is from the chapter on The Hermit, which I figure I'd share since it was the card I most recently posted.
Also, one person at AT PM'd me yesterday to say they couldn't access my website to see the cards (http://www.rosettatarot.com). It seems as if no one else has had that problem, but if you have any problems, I'd really like to know so I can try to correct them. I did call my hosting provider who checked out the site and gave it the thumbs up, so it should work and be safe.
Feedback IS appreciated - both on the images and the text!
The other news is, I'm getting very close to publication now. Have meetings with printers this week!
from The Book of Seshet (images and text copyright 2011):
The Hermit is an aspect of Thoth/Hermes – the third and most mature aspect, with the Fool as the first and the Magus second. He is associated with the sign of Virgo, which relates to the fertile crust of the earth and in the card one may note the nine wheat stalks of the sign of earth in the foreground. Most often he is pictured as a wise bearded man, with a staff, walking alone in an austere landscape. Here the landscape he travels is a labyrinth, in the plum color of rich, fertile blood and the twilight grey of isolation. The labyrinth represents the path going within, introspection, and solitude for spiritual purposes. Labyrinths are also associated with the Moon, and the Hermit as trump IX is associated with the Moon card trump XVIII through the reduction of the number eighteen into nine. Labyrinths have one entrance (birth) and a center (God or a higher power) and are related to the concept of a pilgrimage, a journey usually undertaken alone in a contemplative state.
The Hermit is the first fully male aspect of Thoth/Hermes, the first two aspects of Fool and Magus being considered hermaphrodite. His body is in the shape of a great Yod, the Hebrew letter associated with the card, meaning hand, and the letter of masculine impulse. He is the fertile masculine energy, the spermatozoa; and as such he carries in one hand the staff of Mercury which also represents the double helix of DNA topped with the Orphic egg. As the highest and most mature element of Mercury/Thoth, and the representative of the sign of Virgo, he invokes the psychopompos aspect of Hermes, the guide of the dead who was one of the few who like Persephone, could enter and leave the underworld.
As he is associated with the Moon, in this card a representation of the Moon glows in the night sky. Its face is embossed with the geometric design of the egg of life, from which all things in the Universe are born. His Hebrew letter is hand, and he carries in one of his hands the lantern with the light of the Sun, which lights the path through the darkness and gives light to the world. It is the same Sun as seen over the genitals of the Fool, and rising in the Magus. The geometric pattern of a Star of David, a solar symbol, can be seen in the form of the lantern.
In a reading, the Hermit indicates a time of isolation and introspection that leads to illumination and the darkness giving way to light. Retiring and being open to higher guidance reveals that which has been previously hidden. The lunar powers of the subconscious and the solar powers of creative radiance combine to assist in the search for truth. Silence, withdrawal and going within will allow one to arrive at the divine center and reach a new phase of maturity.

Latest news is that I'm planning on offering the deck in two sizes: standard RWS size and a pocket sized 78 card version in a tin.
The printers are crunching numbers *fingers crossed*
I actually found TWO printers within driving distance who have done & will do decks with real playing card stock - and one has won an award for them! W00T
what remains to be seen is if I have to auction off possessions to afford it...

Hello Babalon.
Very nice work.
Hint from a professional:
When you get your estimate, be sure to ask them if they are printing on premises, and if you can be present for a press check when they run your job.

Thank you OnePotato! I'm a fan of your work!
That is a very good tip indeed. I do plan on asking if I can be present on press, (though I'm guessing they probably hate that!). That said, the printer I'm leaning towards has a super good reputation and has been really nice and responsive so far.
I'm by no means a professional, but it is interesting because I've learned a lot already about the process. I really have little idea of what to look for while "on press", but I hope to learn that too.
Since I plan to start another deck once this one is done, the more I can learn, the better!

Hi
In honor of the Solstice, where the Sun enters 0° Cancer, I've posted two more cards:
The Chariot, Zodiacal Trump of Cancer
and
The Queen of Cups, ruler of the first decan of Cancer
see http://www.rosettatarot.com
Update: Researching the printing options is turning out to be quite the project. Too many options, and all very expensive. I am muddling through all the alternatives, trying to find the option that does the art justice while remaining cost effective. Not an easy task for a novice!
But, I feel like progress is being made, just not as swiftly as I'd like.

It has been a while since I've posted anything here about the Rosetta Tarot's progress. So just wanted to let you know that in honor of the dark of the moon phase we are entering, I put up The Moon card at http://www.rosettatarot.com.
It shows the Moon as the path between Scylla and Charybdis, navigating the siren song of the dreamtime. (It feels really descriptive of my current experience trying to manifest this deck! Still working on the printing/publishing aspect, trying to make my way through the dark night.)
There is a little bit about where that is at on the blog, which I've *finally* posted something to.
Almost done with the Book of Seshet, too. The wheels of progress are turning, but slowly. I hope to have more news after the new moon. Until then, hope you like The Moon card, see you on the dark side of the Moon!

The files have been sent to the printer, so it won't be long now til this deck will be manifested in 3D and available! (And the loan has been approved, lol)
The cards will be professionally printed on an offset press, with a clamshell style box and a 56 page "little white book".
There will also be a more substantial full size companion book available with much more info about the symbolism, greyscale images of all the cards, and chapters introducing basic info on astrology and qabalah, so important to understand when using Thoth and Golden Dawn based decks.
Any questions, please ask. I'll post more images of the deck soon. I anticipate it being available for purchase in the next 2-3 weeks.
thanks for looking :-)

A brief update:
The decks with box, LWB and signature cards, and the full size companion book are almost done at the printers. I expect them to ship out to me next week, and to be available for sale on my website (http://www.rosettatarot.com) very soon thereafter. I've updated the site too; now more cards are on there. Not all of them yet, probably won't post all of them until after they are released.
I can't wait! It will be a numbered signed edition of 777 copies. I'll post the actual release date when it is certain.
The digital proofs look really good. The printer has such a great digital machine that makes the colors even more vibrant than offset. They look so good that some parts of the project I opted to print that way, as they told me the colors are more vibrant and it saved on cost too.
I've started writing a story about the deck's creation saga, to help others who are creating decks and for those who just like to read about the creative process. Since I had to learn so much I figure maybe someone else can benefit from my knowledge and my mistakes! Plus it will show how much more goes into the making of a deck than just the artwork. I had to learn a lot about printing and web stuff and all sorts of other things in order to make this happen
It will be in several parts, 'cause it is a long story! You can read Part I here:
http://blog.rosettatarot.com/2011/10/21/journey-through-the-creation-of-a-tarot-deck---part-i-genesis.aspx
Enjoy and thank you!

The decks and full size books are all here, and the store will be live tomorrow, November 2nd, 2011 at 11:40 pm EDT (that is just before midnite)
I'm in Massachusetts, and haven't had power here for three days now! (We got a freaky October blizzard and 15 inches iof snow!) Of course the power just had to go out while I was in the middle of assembling and shrinkwrapping 777 decks and 500 full size books!

My house looks like an abandoned tarot factory!
But I got enough done to go on with the release date. So if you want an early number (it is a numbered, signed edition) be here as soon as you can after the time above: http://shop.rosettatarot.com/
There are also now more card pictures on the site at http://www.rosettatarot.com and on the blog attached to the site there is a story about the deck creation started. It is in several parts, so once things settle down here and power is restored I'll write more installments and finish the story.
Hope to hear from some of you, anytime!

Ok, the store went up as scheduled. Decks are already winging their way across the globe. I was pleasantly surprised to have a large number of international buyers right out of the gate. Makes me feel a little less provincial!

I've got my deck and I am extremly pleased with it. The artwork is beautiful, the cardstock/feel/size is very good; overall I find it a quality deck - way better and having more to offer than many LoS or other new decks sold on Amazon right now.
